Branchiostoma lanceolatum, the European lancelet or Mediterranean amphioxus (Branchiostoma lanceolatum) is a lancelet in the subphylum Cephalochordata. It is a marine invertebrate with a notochord but no backbone and is used as a model organism to study the evolutionary development of vertebrates.
