Trichogramma pretiosum (Parasitoid wasp, Unisexual culture from Peru) Assembly and Gene Annotation

About Trichogramma pretiosum

Trichogramma pretiosum are minute polyphagous wasps and endoparasitoids of insect eggs. The genus Trichogramma is one of around 80 genera within the family Trichogrammatidae, with over 200 species destributed worldwide. Trichogramma spp. have been used for control of lepidopteran pests for many years. Velvetbean caterpillars Anticarsia gemmatalis among other pests such as Pseudoplusia includens, soybean webworm Omiodes indicata and southern army worm Spodoptera eridania are all known are major pests of Soybean (Glycine max). Egg parasitoids, such as those from genus: Trichogramma have been recognized as an important biological control agent of those pests due to their worldwide distribution and ability to parasitize the eggs of not only the above mentioned pests but a great diversity of pests from the order Lepidoptera (1).
